RECHT. Ökonomien des Handelns 2
RECHT. ÖKONOMIEN DES HANDELNS 2
Film, performative concert, 2015
After having left KREDIT behind, the camera now reaches the second stage of its journey through the economies of action: A group of lawyers, stranded on a river island in an inner-European border area, is working on an impossible task: The creation of a new legal order from the center of the schengen area: for themselves, for Europeans, transnationally for everyone? How much external control does an inside devoid of borders require? At the same time musicians of the ensemble NADAR, stranded on a concert stage, are working within their own control system. Between score and improvisation, stage and screen time, screen and concert hall, jump cut and the continuity of playing music.
RECHT confronts the legal regime of the island and of the theater, the concert and justice. "On this side of the law, on that side of the law, who is right, who is wrong, who is for and who's against the law?" (Johnny Cash) In KREDIT, the first part of their trilogy, Kötter / Seidl dealt with the temporal dynamics of the financial market ("money is time“); part 2 is concerned with the extension of rights, its inclusive and exclusionary mechanisms: RECHT is LAW, LAW is space.
